Parkinson's Disease is a chronic neurodegenerative disease which progressively incapacitates sufferers. It usually affects more mature people of both sexes, although it can be present in young people.
At GO fit we have a step by step physical exercise programme called Life Parkinson's to improve the quality of life of those affected by Parkinson's Disease. The Life Parkinson's programme consists of a combination of exercises that strengthen muscular activity with mobility exercises and stretches. This programme helps conserve muscular tone and the full joint range of motion.
The improvement in posture can be achieved with postural realignment and breathing exercises and the patient must always be conscious of their own body and that's why the Life Parkinson's programme includes exercises in proprioception.
The programme includes marching exercises, maintaining a straight line to improve balance, one of the most dangerous aspects of this disorder in sufferers. Based in progress and improvement, changes of direction, marching with stops and improvements in arm balancing are worked on.
